Characteristic of the species is the trunk covered in brown fibres, topped with large, round, fanning leaves on long stems.

Outdoors in the garden or on the terrace it gives a southern feel, even in winter, as it stays green. Choose a spot in sun or partial shade, ideally out of the wind so the leaves don't tear. Water regularly in summer and make sure excess water can drain away. Planted in the ground it tolerates hard frost; in a pot, it's wise to wrap the root ball during severe frost. Indoors it can go in a cool, bright hallway or conservatory, but a warm living room is less suitable.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0935/6430/5754/files/waaierpalm-trachycarpus-fortunei-160cm.jpg?v=1790616687
