An artificial monstera, also sold as an artificial Swiss cheese plant, comes as Monstera deliciosa or as Monkey Leaf with smaller leaves full of holes. It is UV-resistant, can stand indoors or outdoors and never needs watering.
This collection has 3 artificial plants, from 22 to 125 cm tall. We measure height from the bottom of the pot to the tallest leaf. The 22 cm Monkey Leaf is small enough for a desk, a windowsill or a bathroom shelf. The 50 cm Monstera deliciosa comes with a white pot and goes straight onto a side table or sideboard. Monkey Leaf or deliciosa
Both are Swiss cheese plants, but they look different. The Monstera deliciosa has large, broad leaves with deep cuts along the edge. That is the familiar, graphic Monstera look. The Monkey Leaf resembles the real Monstera adansonii, which has smaller leaves with oval holes in the middle of the leaf and so looks airier. Want a large floor plant? Where to put an artificial Monstera
An artificial plant needs no light. So you can place it where a real Monstera would struggle: a hallway without a window, a dark corner or an office where the heating is on for long stretches. A sunny spot is no problem either: the plant is UV-resistant and can stand indoors or outdoors without fading. Want to create a tropical corner? Cleaning
Maintenance is limited to the occasional dusting. Wipe the leaves with a dry or slightly damp cloth, or use a feather duster. That keeps the leaves deep green and the plant looking well kept. Do not use harsh cleaning products, as they can dull the surface.

Does an artificial Monstera look real?
A good artificial Monstera closely resembles the real plant, with deep green leaves and the characteristic holes or splits. You mainly notice the difference when you touch the leaves. Put it in a nice decorative pot or among real plants and it is even harder to tell it is artificial.
Does an artificial Monstera need light?
No. An artificial plant does not grow, so it needs no daylight. You can also put it in a room without a window, such as a toilet or hallway. Sun is fine too: the plant is UV-resistant and does not fade, not even outside on a patio or balcony.
How do you clean an artificial Monstera?
Dust the leaves every few weeks with a dry cloth or a feather duster. If the plant is dirtier, use a cloth with a little lukewarm water and let the leaves dry thoroughly afterwards. It is best to avoid cleaning products and alcohol, as they can dull the surface.
Is an artificial Monstera safe around pets?
An artificial Monstera contains no plant sap. The substances in a real Monstera that can affect cats and dogs are therefore not present. It is still plastic, though. So do not let a pet chew on it, and keep the plant out of the way if your animal likes to gnaw on leaves.
