An artificial orchid is a Phalaenopsis that is always in flower, in purple, purple and white or orange, or as a larger potted plant. It is UV-resistant, can stand indoors or outdoors and never needs watering.
This collection has 4 artificial orchids, from 41 to 71 cm tall. We measure from the bottom of the pot to the highest point of the plant. Three of them are 41 to 43 cm tall and come in a ø9 cm pot. They fit on a windowsill, a desk or in the bathroom. You can get them in purple, in purple and white, and in orange. The largest is 71 cm tall and comes with a ø17 cm pot included. It looks good on a sideboard, dining table or reception desk, where a small orchid would get lost.
Why an artificial orchid
A real Phalaenopsis flowers for a few months and then has a rest period without flowers. An artificial orchid stays in bloom all year round. It needs no water or feeding, and the amount of light does not matter. So it can stand where a real orchid would struggle, such as a dark hallway or a room you do not visit every week. Sun is not a problem either: the orchid is UV-resistant, so the flower colours do not fade.
Styling and combining
An orchid looks best in a simple pot that lets the flower take centre stage. Put the small versions in a decorative pot of your choice. A ø9 cm pot fits in many small decorative pots. Place two or three in a row on a windowsill for a continuous line of colour. Combine them with boho-style artificial plants for a warm look, or take a look at the artificial plants with pot if you want more complete plants.
Cleaning
Dust the flowers and leaves every few weeks with a soft brush, a feather duster or a dry cloth. For the flowers, a hairdryer on the cold setting also works well. If the plant is dirty, use a slightly damp cloth and let it dry thoroughly afterwards. It is best to avoid cleaning products.

Artificial orchids are among the most convincing artificial flowers, because the real Phalaenopsis already has crisp, waxy flowers. From a distance you can hardly tell the difference. Up close you mainly notice that the small irregularities of a real plant are missing.
Can an artificial orchid go in the bathroom?
Yes. Moisture does not affect an artificial orchid, so it can happily stand in a bathroom or toilet, even without a window. Do keep it out of the direct spray of the shower and wipe it now and then so no limescale or soap residue builds up on the flowers.
How long does an artificial orchid stay looking good?
A long time, as long as you dust it now and then. No need to avoid the sun: the orchid is UV-resistant, so the colours do not fade, not even on a sunny windowsill. It can even stand outdoors, for example on a patio table. Bring it inside for a while in a storm.
