Artificial plants

Our artificial plants range from small table plants to large artificial trees, including ficus, olive tree, bamboo, maple and orchid. All of them are UV-resistant, can stand indoors or outdoors and never need watering.

Which size artificial plant to choose

The 89 artificial plants in this collection range from 8 to 210 cm tall. The size mainly decides where the plant goes. Small artificial plants up to about 30 cm, such as Pilea, Hoya or Syngonium, fit on a windowsill, bookcase or desk. Plants of around a metre fill a corner next to the sofa or an empty spot by the stairs. From 150 cm, such as the 160 or 180 cm Ficus Lyrata, 180 cm bamboo or a 180 cm maple, you have a plant that dresses the whole room.

Prices range from €11.95 to €399. Every plant has its height and pot size in the name, so you can easily compare and know which decorative pot will fit.

Material and realism

You can spot a good artificial plant by leaves with veins, colour variation and a natural-looking trunk. So take a close look at the product photos before you choose. Species with sturdy leaves, such as Ficus, Monstera and Sansevieria, often look the most convincing as artificial plants. For the Phalaenopsis orchid you can choose from several colours, from purple and white to orange. A few artificial plants come with a pot included, such as the Monstera Deliciosa and the Epipremnum with a white pot and a 71 cm orchid. When that is the case, it says so in the product name.

Indoors, outdoors and cleaning

All XXLplant artificial plants are UV-resistant. The leaves do not fade in the sun, so you can use them indoors and outdoors, including on a sunny patio or balcony. Outdoors, rinse them with water now and then and secure the pot firmly in strong wind. Indoors, an artificial plant is especially handy in a bathroom, bedroom or dark hallway: it needs no light and there is no potting soil that stays wet or goes mouldy.

Maintenance is limited to dusting. Do that about once a month with a soft feather duster or a slightly damp cloth. If there is more dirt on it, briefly rinse the leaves with lukewarm water and let them dry thoroughly.

Style and combining

For a calm, natural interior, take a look at Japandi artificial plants, with clean shapes, bamboo and fine leaves. If you like a fuller, greener look, Monstera, banana plant and Caladium work well. An artificial Ficus suits almost any interior, from modern to classic. Group larger plants in different heights, which looks more natural than plants of the same size in a row. Delivery within the Netherlands is free from €99.

Frequently asked questions

Are artificial plants safe for cats and dogs?

An artificial plant contains no sap or toxic leaves, so there is no risk like with some real houseplants. All 89 artificial plants in this collection are listed as pet-friendly. If you have a cat that likes to chew, do make sure it does not swallow any loose bits of leaf.

How do you clean an artificial plant?

Wipe the leaves about once a month with a soft feather duster or a slightly damp cloth. If the plant is very dusty, briefly rinse it under lukewarm water or in the shower and let it dry thoroughly before putting it back.

Can you put an artificial plant outside?

Yes. All XXLplant artificial plants are UV-resistant, so they do not fade in direct sunlight. You can put them on a patio, balcony or in the garden. Rinse them with water now and then to remove dust and dirt, and secure large plants firmly in a storm.

Which artificial plant suits a bathroom or bedroom?

An artificial plant is especially handy in rooms with little light. Small types such as Epipremnum, Hoya or an orchid fit on a shelf or windowsill. In a spacious bedroom, a 120 to 180 cm Ficus or bamboo looks great next to a wardrobe or window.

How much does a large artificial plant cost?

In this collection prices start at €11.95 for a small artificial plant. Large specimens of 150 cm and taller cost more, up to €399 for the most expensive plant. Every plant shows its height and pot size, so you can compare prices easily.
