Details

Imposing Codiaeum Petra, 170 cm high. This croton has colorful leaves in green, yellow, orange, and red, and is a festive eye-catcher for your home.

Species: Codiaeum variegatum 'Petra' · Height: 170 cm (including nursery pot) · Pot size: ø40 cm

The croton 'Petra' (Codiaeum variegatum) has large, leathery leaves with yellow veins on green, which turn orange and red with more light. This large houseplant is 170 cm tall including the grow pot and stands in a pot of ø40 cm. It brings colour to a bright living room, a hallway or a conservatory, and suits anyone with a sunny window. Place it in as bright a spot as possible; a little direct morning sun helps the colours. Keep the root ball lightly moist and mist the leaves now and then, as dry air and draughts cause leaf drop. The milky sap can irritate the skin, and the croton is toxic to cats and dogs. It is supplied in the grow pot, and a decorative pot is chosen separately.

Delivery

Shipping a two-metre plant takes more than a box and some tape. That's why we do it differently from an ordinary online shop.

How your plant arrives in one piece

Fresh from the greenhouse
Your plant does not sit in a warehouse for weeks. The grower only takes it out of the greenhouse after you order and prepares it straight away.
Packed securely
In a box made for plants. Plant and soil are secured and a protective sleeve keeps the leaves intact, so nothing shifts on the way.
Protected from heat and frost
Is it very hot or freezing outside? Then we add a cold pack or heat pack to the box, so the weather doesn't affect your plant on the way.
The right carrier for every size
Smaller plants are delivered by PostNL or DHL. The very largest plants travel upright on a pallet with a specialist carrier.
You know exactly when it arrives
As soon as your plant is on its way, you receive track & trace by email, so you can make sure someone is home and, for a large plant, someone to help carry it in.

Frequently asked questions about Codiaeum variegatum 'Petra'

The questions we're asked most about this plant. Can't find yours? Our plant experts are happy to help.

Ask your question

How big does a croton Petra grow?

A croton Petra grows indoors into a sturdy shrub or small tree if it gets enough light. XXLplant sells the croton Petra at 170 cm tall, measured including the nursery pot. That makes it an instant eye-catcher in the room.

Where should you put a croton Petra?

Give the croton Petra as much light as possible; some direct morning sun is good for the leaf colour. In a spot that is too dark the leaves turn greener and drop more quickly. Avoid draughts and cold spots.

How often should you water a croton Petra?

Keep the root ball lightly moist and don't let it dry out, but avoid wet feet. Mist the leaves regularly for extra humidity. Feed every two weeks in spring and summer.

Is the croton Petra toxic to cats and dogs?

Yes, the croton is toxic to cats and dogs. The milky sap released from a damaged leaf can also irritate the skin. Keep it out of reach of pets.

Why is my croton Petra dropping leaves?

Leaf drop is usually caused by draughts, cold or too little light, and often by the move itself. A croton needs a little time to settle in. Give it a fixed, bright and warm spot and don't keep moving it.

How does XXLplant deliver a croton Petra?

The plant travels upright in its own plant box, with the crown in a paper sleeve and the pot secured. In frosty weather we add a heat pack, in hot weather a cold pack, and the largest plants go with a specialist carrier (otherwise PostNL or DHL). Delivery usually takes 4 to 5 working days.
