A croton Iceton grows indoors into a sizeable shrub or small tree and keeps growing for years with enough light. XXLplant sells the croton Iceton from 100 to 230 cm tall, measured including the nursery pot. The smaller sizes are branched, and the larger ones are real eye-catchers for a spacious room.
Where should you put a croton Iceton?
Place the croton in a very bright spot, because light determines the leaf colour. Some direct morning or evening sun is fine; in a dark spot the leaves fade to green. Keep it out of draughts and somewhere warm, between 18 and 25 °C.
How often should you water a croton Iceton?
Keep the soil evenly and lightly moist and do not let it dry out. At the same time, make sure no water is left standing in the bottom of the pot. Mist the leaves when the air is dry, for example when the heating is on.
Why is my croton losing leaves after delivery?
A croton reacts strongly to a change of spot, less light, draughts or cold, and drops leaves as a result. This often happens in the first weeks after a move. Give it a bright, warm spot out of draughts straight away and then leave it there, and new leaves will follow.
Is the croton toxic to cats and dogs?
Yes, the croton is toxic to cats and dogs. The white milky sap can also irritate the skin. Wear gloves when pruning and keep the plant out of reach of pets.
What is the difference between croton Iceton and croton Petra?
Both are colourful Codiaeum variegatum cultivars. The Iceton has slightly narrower, pointed leaves with lots of yellow and later orange and red, while the Petra has broader leaves with distinct yellow veins. Their care is the same.
