This fishbone cactus is 15 cm tall including nursery pot, in a pot of ø6 cm. The stems grow into trailing sections that can reach 50 to 100 cm long after a few years.
Where should you place a fishbone cactus?
In a bright spot without intense midday sun, for example by an east- or west-facing window. Because the stems trail, it looks good on a shelf or in a hanging pot.
How often should you water a fishbone cactus?
Water when the top layer of soil is dry, about once a week in summer. Much less in winter. It is not a desert cactus, so letting it dry out completely is not necessary.
Does a fishbone cactus flower indoors?
Yes, a mature plant can produce large, fragrant flowers in autumn that open at night. A cooler, drier period in winter and sufficient light help with this. A young plant usually only flowers after a few years.
Why are the stems of my fishbone cactus becoming limp?
Limp, wrinkled stems usually mean too little water, while soft and brown stems mean too much. Feel the soil and adjust watering accordingly.
