The Opuntia Cactus, also known as the Prickly Pear Cactus, is a striking succulent with flat, oval pads that stack to form a graphic, sculptural structure. A tough eye-catcher that immediately adds desert vibes to your interior or sunny veranda.

The prickly pear cactus (Opuntia ficus-indica) grows with flat, oval pads stacked on top of each other, together forming an irregular, sculptural plant. This specimen is 120 cm tall including the grow pot and stands in a pot of ø38 cm. It belongs in the sunniest spot you have: in front of a south-facing window, in a conservatory or outside on a warm terrace in summer. For anyone with little time it's a good choice, as it copes well with drought. Water it occasionally in summer and let the soil dry out completely in between; in winter almost none at all. It can take a little frost if kept dry, but it's better to overwinter it in a pot somewhere bright and frost-free. Watch out for the fine spines when moving it.
