Details

The Chamaedorea Elegans, also known as the Parlor Palm, is a compact palm with delicate, feathery leaves in a fresh deep green. This elegant houseplant fits into any interior and is ideal for those who like a low-maintenance green housemate.

Species: Chamaedorea elegans · Height: 100 cm (including nursery pot) · Pot size: ø24 cm

The parlour palm (Chamaedorea elegans) is a graceful, small palm with fine, feathery leaves on thin stems. Several plants stand together in the pot, giving it a full look; this specimen is 100 cm tall, measured including the grower's pot, and stands in a pot of ø24 cm.

It looks lovely in the bedroom, in the office or in a living room that gets little sun, as it grows well in partial shade and dislikes direct sunlight. That makes it suitable for a spot where many other palms would get too little light. Keep the soil slightly moist, but don't let it stand in water. In dry air, misting now and then helps against brown tips. The parlour palm is not toxic to cats and dogs. It's supplied in the grower's pot.

Delivery

Shipping a two-metre plant takes more than a box and some tape. That's why we do it differently from an ordinary online shop.

How your plant arrives in one piece

Fresh from the greenhouse
Your plant does not sit in a warehouse for weeks. The grower only takes it out of the greenhouse after you order and prepares it straight away.
Packed securely
In a box made for plants. Plant and soil are secured and a protective sleeve keeps the leaves intact, so nothing shifts on the way.
Protected from heat and frost
Is it very hot or freezing outside? Then we add a cold pack or heat pack to the box, so the weather doesn't affect your plant on the way.
The right carrier for every size
Smaller plants are delivered by PostNL or DHL. The very largest plants travel upright on a pallet with a specialist carrier.
You know exactly when it arrives
As soon as your plant is on its way, you receive track & trace by email, so you can make sure someone is home and, for a large plant, someone to help carry it in.

When will your plant arrive?

Frequently asked questions about Chamaedorea elegans

The questions we're asked most about this plant. Can't find yours? Our plant experts are happy to help.

Ask your question

How big does a Chamaedorea elegans grow?

A Chamaedorea elegans, also known as the parlour palm, grows slowly and usually stays under two metres indoors. It forms a clump of several stems with fine, feathery leaves. XXLplant sells the parlour palm at 100 cm tall, measured including the nursery pot.

Is a Chamaedorea elegans toxic to cats and dogs?

No, the Chamaedorea elegans isn't toxic to cats and dogs. That makes the parlour palm a good choice for a household with pets.

Where should you place a Chamaedorea elegans?

A Chamaedorea elegans likes partial shade or a bright spot out of direct sun. Strong sun can discolour the leaves. It copes with lower light better than most palms.

How often should you water a Chamaedorea elegans?

Keep the soil of a Chamaedorea elegans slightly moist and don't let it stand in water. Check with your finger whether the top layer is dry before watering. In winter it needs less.

Why is my Chamaedorea elegans getting brown tips?

Brown leaf tips on a Chamaedorea elegans are usually caused by dry air or by the soil drying out too much. A spot away from the radiator and occasional misting help. If you like, trim the brown tips off at an angle.

How is a Chamaedorea elegans delivered?

XXLplant ships the parlour palm upright in its own plant box, with the crown in a paper sleeve and the pot secured. In frost or heat we add a heat pack or cold pack.
