The peacock plant Calathea roseopicta 'Dottie', nowadays also called Goeppertia, has dark, almost black-purple leaves with bright pink lines along the edge and the midrib. The underside of the leaves is purple. This young plant is 15 cm tall including nursery pot, in a pot of ø6 cm.

It fits well in the living room, bedroom or office, in a spot in partial shade. The leaves move with the light and lift slightly in the evening. Keep the soil slightly moist with lukewarm, low-lime water and provide humid air, away from the radiator. According to the ASPCA, Calathea is non-toxic to cats and dogs.
