Details

Two peacock plants with light green leaves, dark spots like a peacock feather and a purple-red underside. Lovely as a pair and not toxic to cats and dogs.

Contents: 2 plants (Calathea makoyana) · Height: 45 cm (including nursery pot) · Pot size: ø14 cm per plant

These are two peacock plants (Calathea makoyana), each in a pot of ø14 cm. The leaves are light green with dark green, oval spots along the vein, reminiscent of a peacock feather, and the underside is purple-red. The plants are 45 cm tall including nursery pot.

Two identical plants look lovely next to each other on a sideboard or on either side of a cabinet, in the living room, bedroom or a bright bathroom. Place them in a bright spot without direct sunlight and keep the soil lightly moist with low-lime water. Humid air helps prevent brown leaf edges. In the evening, the leaves fold upwards. The Calathea is not toxic to cats and dogs. The plants are in a nursery pot; choose a decorative pot separately.

Delivery

Shipping a two-metre plant takes more than a box and some tape. That's why we do it differently from an ordinary online shop.

How your plant arrives in one piece

Fresh from the greenhouse
Your plant does not sit in a warehouse for weeks. The grower only takes it out of the greenhouse after you order and prepares it straight away.
Packed securely
In a box made for plants. Plant and soil are secured and a protective sleeve keeps the leaves intact, so nothing shifts on the way.
Protected from heat and frost
Is it very hot or freezing outside? Then we add a cold pack or heat pack to the box, so the weather doesn't affect your plant on the way.
The right carrier for every size
Smaller plants are delivered by PostNL or DHL. The very largest plants travel upright on a pallet with a specialist carrier.
You know exactly when it arrives
As soon as your plant is on its way, you receive track & trace by email, so you can make sure someone is home and, for a large plant, someone to help carry it in.

Frequently asked questions about Calathea makoyana

The questions we're asked most about this plant. Can't find yours? Our plant experts are happy to help.

Ask your question

How large are these Calathea makoyanas?

Each plant is 45 cm tall, measured including nursery pot, in a pot of ø14 cm. You receive two. A Calathea makoyana usually does not grow much taller indoors, but it does become fuller.

Where should you place a Calathea makoyana?

In a bright spot without direct sunlight, for example by a north- or east-facing window. A bright bathroom is also suitable, because the air there is more humid.

How often should you water a Calathea makoyana?

Keep the soil lightly moist; in summer this is often once or twice a week. Do not let the soil dry out, but do not leave it soaking wet either. Low-lime water prevents brown tips.

Is a Calathea makoyana toxic to cats and dogs?

No, the Calathea makoyana is known to be non-toxic to cats and dogs.

Why are the leaves of my Calathea makoyana curling?

Curled leaves during the day indicate soil that is too dry or dry air. Water when the top layer is dry and do not place the plant next to the radiator. Folding up in the evening is normal.
