Calathea makoyana, also called peacock plant, has oval leaves with a light background and dark green markings along the veins, as if little feathers had been drawn on them. The underside of the leaf is purple-red. This plant is 55 cm tall including the nursery pot and comes in a pot of ø17 cm.

It grows bushy and looks its best in a bright spot in the living room or bedroom, or in a bathroom with daylight. Direct sunlight burns the leaves. Keep the soil slightly moist and preferably water with rainwater or low-lime water. Dry air and drafts cause brown edges. Calathea is non-toxic to cats and dogs.
