Species: Maranta leuconeura 'Kerchoveana' · Height: 12 cm (including nursery pot) · Pot size: ø6 cm

The prayer plant Maranta leuconeura 'Kerchoveana' has oval, light green leaves with dark spots between the veins. In the evening, the leaves rise and fold shut, as if the plant is folding its hands. This specimen is 12 cm tall including nursery pot and is in a pot of ø6 cm.

The plant is low and wide and looks lovely on a side table, in the bedroom or on a desk. Choose a bright spot without direct sun, as strong light fades the spots. Keep the potting soil lightly moist with lukewarm, low-lime water, such as rainwater. According to the ASPCA, the prayer plant is non-toxic to cats and dogs.

Delivery

Shipping a two-metre plant takes more than a box and some tape. That's why we do it differently from an ordinary online shop.

How your plant arrives in one piece

Fresh from the greenhouse
Your plant does not sit in a warehouse for weeks. The grower only takes it out of the greenhouse after you order and prepares it straight away.
Packed securely
In a box made for plants. Plant and soil are secured and a protective sleeve keeps the leaves intact, so nothing shifts on the way.
Protected from heat and frost
Is it very hot or freezing outside? Then we add a cold pack or heat pack to the box, so the weather doesn't affect your plant on the way.
The right carrier for every size
Smaller plants are delivered by PostNL or DHL. The very largest plants travel upright on a pallet with a specialist carrier.
You know exactly when it arrives
As soon as your plant is on its way, you receive track & trace by email, so you can make sure someone is home and, for a large plant, someone to help carry it in.

Frequently asked questions about Maranta leuconeura 'Kerchoveana'

The questions we're asked most about this plant. Can't find yours? Our plant experts are happy to help.

Ask your question

How large does a prayer plant grow?

This prayer plant is 12 cm tall including nursery pot, in a pot of ø6 cm. A Maranta mainly grows in width and usually remains under 30 cm tall over the years.

Why does a prayer plant fold up its leaves?

The Maranta moves its leaves to the rhythm of day and night. During the day they lie flat; in the evening they stand upright. This is normal and a sign that the plant is active.

Where should you place a prayer plant?

In a bright spot without direct sun, such as a north-facing windowsill or a table a few metres from the window. It also does well in a bathroom with daylight.

Is a prayer plant toxic to cats?

No, Maranta leuconeura is listed by the ASPCA as non-toxic to cats and dogs. It is therefore a safe choice if you have pets.

Why is my prayer plant getting brown leaf tips?

Brown tips are usually caused by dry air or lime-rich tap water. Use rainwater or filtered water and place it in a spot with somewhat more humid air.
