This Calathea lancifolia is 70 cm tall, measured including the nursery pot, and comes in a pot of ø27 cm. The long leaves stand fairly upright.
Where should you place a Calathea lancifolia?
In a bright spot without direct sun, or in partial shade. Too much sun fades the leaves. A bathroom or bedroom with somewhat more humid air suits it well.
How often should you water a Calathea lancifolia?
Keep the potting soil slightly moist, often once or twice a week in summer. Do not let it dry out and do not leave water standing in the pot. Low-lime water or rainwater prevents brown edges.
Is Calathea lancifolia toxic to cats and dogs?
No, the ASPCA lists Calathea lancifolia as non-toxic to cats and dogs.
Why are the leaves of my Calathea lancifolia curling?
Curled leaves during the day usually indicate soil that is too dry or dry air. Water it and increase the humidity. Folding slightly upwards in the evening is normal behaviour for calatheas.
Why is my Calathea getting brown edges?
Brown leaf edges are often caused by dry air or lime-rich tap water. Use rainwater or filtered water and do not place it near a radiator.
