Which artificial tree suits your interior

The species mainly sets the mood. An artificial olive tree with its narrow, grey-green leaves belongs in a light, Mediterranean-style interior. You will find more in that style among the Mediterranean artificial plants. An oak tree feels warmer and goes well with wood, linen and a country-style interior, like the country-style artificial plants. The eucalyptus, also called blue gum, has round blue-green leaves and looks lovely in a light, pared-back interior.

Which height to choose

We measure height from the bottom of the pot to the tallest leaf. In this collection you can choose from:

  • 90 cm: a compact oak tree for next to a chair, on a low cabinet or by the front door.
  • 117 to 140 cm: olive and oak trees that fill an empty corner without dominating it.
  • 170 to 180 cm: an oak tree, olive tree or eucalyptus as a real eye-catcher in the living room, hallway or office.

Artificial tree indoors or outdoors

Many people look for an artificial tree for outdoors. That works: all XXLplant artificial trees are UV-resistant, so the leaves do not fade in the sun. Put them indoors or outdoors, for example on a patio, balcony or by the front door. Outdoors the leaves do get dusty faster. Rinse them now and then with a gentle spray of water. A tree with lots of leaves also catches a lot of wind, so secure it firmly in a storm.

Cleaning

An artificial tree takes little work. Wipe the leaves every few weeks with a feather duster or a slightly damp cloth. For an olive tree with lots of small leaves, a hairdryer on the cold setting also works well. Do not use strong cleaning products, as they can affect the colour. Put a tall tree in a heavy decorative pot so it stays stable and does not topple when you walk past.
